Renewable Heat Incentive Income
The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) is a payment from the Government intended to reward the generation of green, renewable heat energy. The latest announcement has confirmed that under the Renewable Heat Premium Payment scheme (the precursor of the RHI) there will be a grant of £850 for the installation of qualifying Air Source Heat Pumps during 2011/12 starting from the 1st of August. The tariff levels that air source heat pumps might attract in the longer term have not been confirmed as yet, and are unlikely to be in place before the end of 2012. The detail of how the scheme will operate is available at the Energy Savings Trust
Global Energy Systems' Eco Air Boiler heat pumps are air source heat pumps, a renewable technology included in the RHI. The current information suggests that air source heat pumps will attract an income of up to 7.5p per kW h generated, and that this subsidy will last for 18 years, index linked and tax free to individuals. This is on top of the £850 grant available at the point of installation. The scheme is intended to provide an annual return of 12% on the equipment costs. This income is on top of the savings that are available on your fuel bills; combining the two could pay back the costs of an Eco Air Boiler in 3 years.
Eco Air Boilers are MCS accredited and qualify for the RHI, to receive the incentive; Global Energy Systems are also an accredited MCS installer allowing us to supply and install our own machines with our own staff. There may also be a requirement or assumption of some basic insulation standards, these will be confirmed with the scheme we hope.
As an MCS accredited manufacturer and installer of our own heat pumps, Global Energy Systems can provide a full assessment, specification and installation service, ensuring that your renewable energy solution is tailored to your needs.
